Yes you are right.Moreover if new prices are not released before the order processing then at the time of variance calculation system will calculate variance but give you error " Only remaining variance is calculated as there is no target cost." To avoid this kind of situation you can use following BADIs :
WORKORDER_UPDATE - Stops the Creation of Prod order itself
WORKORDER_GOODSMVT - Stops the Goods movement
WORKORDER_GOODSMVT or WORKORDER_CONFIRM – Stops any GI into Production order from BoM.
MB_MIGO_BADI..- Stops Intial stock load : for example movement type 561 / 562. - (This BADI applies to all In bound material movements)
Now the choice is yours at what stage you want to take action.
