Bulk replication means , whatever is being created from CRM is sent to the receiver site if outbound replication for that object is subscribed by that site.
Simple intelligent means that , only those objects are sent out to the sites which fulfill the filter criteria.
Also as Amy Ding specifies in the comment below that BU_GROUP is not provided as a field for filter in SMOEAC , you can use Numbering ranges as filter ( since each grouping has a number range linked to it ). Please take care of the leading zeros while specifying the numbering.
Following the steps from the document won't cause any troubles , you just need to take care that all steps are correctly followed
